Movies that inspired personal style
What is your style? Does the actor inspire
you in the movies? "Movies have been influencing fashion since the
beginning," says film and fashion historian Kimberly Truhler. "When
people saw these moving images of actresses Mary Pickford or Gloria Swanson,
they started emulating them." We've introduced five movies that help you
to get your style.
1. In the Mood for love
The film by Wong Kar-wai, who was born in Hong Kong. The story of between two married neighbors, They fell in love with each other. The film is visually outstanding. It uses colors, such as orange, red,
and green. The color always changes following the storyline. The warmer color is more passionate about the emotion. Opposite, the cooler color is more mysterious. Throughout the film, the actress (Maggie) is styled in a lot of clothing. However, the film only uses 20-25
dresses. A new dress represents a new day or new emotion,
Wong Kar-wai explains saying, "The dress is not just a dress. It's the Maggie character's Mood. It's as if she's
wearing this Mood that day." So you can see a lot of clothes that change
to follow the mood in the movies.
2. Pulp Fiction
Pulp Fiction had a significant influence on
pop culture, more
and more young people try to emulate the actor's style in the movie. Mia
Wallace. Who played Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction. She epitomizes the '90s
minimalism, Mr. Money Mustache has a golden rule of minimalism: "If you
don't use it, lose it." so she wears a simple pair of cropped black trousers and a white
shirt in the film.
3. Ocean's Eight
The film follows the story of criminals together to steal a valuable diamond necklace during the Met
Gala. The designer Sarah Edwards needs to create and design eight different
roles. Make the audience distinguish eight-woman easily. All eight women
also needed a show-stopping dress for the Met Gala, so she had to create a lot
of costumes for them. She said: "we're asking for a dress that would fit
our story, our characters, our timeline, the different actions they had to do
in the film." So you can see the different gorgeous designs in this movie.
4. Taxi Driver
This film from 1976, Martin Scorsese. The
film's style still influences fashion trends. Since the Taxi Driver was
published, both designers and audiences like the actor's style, such as a
mohawk, aviator sunglasses, and an M-65 field jacket. And now, it still
influences man's style of clothing. The military field jacket has become
essential for men.
5. ANNIE HALL
The film's clothing style was inspired by the
actress's own. She combines menswear and woman style. Which was different from
the fashion of the time. But she was successful. She becomes a master of
menswear for women, more and more women emulating Annie Hall to
start wear menswear.
